Before starting her vocal studies with Maestro M.Command and G.Bacquier,

Judith Gauthier, soprano, trained at Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris,

piano, accompaniment and vocal conducting.

 

Judith Gauthier is recipient of several prizes

including the Adami Prize at the International Competition of Clermont-Ferrand (2005),

the First Prize and the SACEM Prize for the most outstanding interpretation of contemporary works

at the Concours International de la Mélodie Française de Toulouse (2003).

 

Judith Gauthier made her debut in 'Idoménée' by Campra,

and was invited to participate in 'Bastien und Bastienne' by Mozart (Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris).

She has performed Céphise in 'Alceste' by Lully (Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Paris),

Arcas in 'Ifigenia in Aulide' by Martin y Soler (Madrid),

Fiordiligi in 'Cosi fan tutte' (Warsaw),

Frasquita in 'Carmen' (M.Minkowski, Bremen Music Festival),

Lisettta in 'La gazzetta' by Rossini (Rossini in Wildbad Belcanto Opera Festival, which was recorded by Naxos).

 

Judith Gauthier has been a soloist in 'Mass in B minor' by Bach (M.Minkowski, H.Niquet conductors),

in 'Great Mass in C' by Mozart and 'Ein deutsches Requiem' by Brahms (B.Tétu, Lyon),

in works by Denoyé, Corrette and Charpentier (M.Gester, conductor, Le Parlement de Musique, recorded by Harmonia Mundi),

and 'La Resurrezione' by Haendel (Combattimento Consort Amsterdam, J.W De Vriend, conductor).

 

A very experienced twentieth century music interpreter,

Judith Gauthier perfomed in 'Andrea del Sarto' by Daniel-Lesur,

'Leçons de ténèbres' by Ph.Fénelon,

'Estampes japonaises' by P.Méfano,

'Two Poems and Three Japanese Lyrics of Balmont' by Stravinsky, with the 2E2M Ensemble,

'As I crossed a bridge of dreams' by P.Eötvös with the Ensemble Intercontemporain, among others.

 

More recently, Judith Gauthier has performed Oberto in 'Alcina' by Haendel

(debut at Opera National de Paris-Garnier, Wiener Konzerthaus, and Aix-en -Provence).

 

Upcoming engagements include Fiorilla in 'Il Turco in Italia' by Rossini (St Mauritz Festival, Switzerland),

Drolla in 'Die Feen' by Wagner and Astrée in 'Pastorale' by G.Pesson (Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris),

Amour and Clarine in 'Platée' by Rameau (Opéra National de Paris-Bastille),

and Oberto in 'Alcina' (Opera de Santiago de Chile).
